What is an Empowering Mindset
We have just spent the last 19 posts guiding, expanding and reframing your unconscious and conscious mind, to where you need it to be to support your extraordinary wellness journey. I encourage you to go back over previous posts again, and again, and again whenever you feel the need to replenish, refresh and reinvigorate your motivation. Your body deserves your unconditional, tireless commitment to excellence. You only get one shot at life, so make sure your life’s temple is your absolute best!
“Make your own recovery the first priority in your life.”
~ Robin Norwood
Early on in my career as a personal trainer, I realised I needed to find a way to influence my clients’ thinking so they could empower, support and nurture themselves when I was not with them, which was usually around 166 hours out of 168 hours in a week. You see it does not matter what you do in your one-on-one PT sessions, in fact it is often a waste of money, time and hard-earned sweat, if your mindset, self-talk and beliefs are sabotaging your physical efforts.
I started to ask myself, “What impact can I have with my clients when they are not with me?” and “How can I empower my clients to believe they ARE more, can DO more, to BE more and HAVE more?”
Then, I started asking each and every one of my clients more empowering questions. Please give yourself some time now to consider and, if motivated, answer these questions for yourself:
¥ What are you trying to achieve?
¥ And, if you stopped ‘trying’, what would you achieve?¥ How do you want to feel every day?
¥ What is your motivation?
¥ What are you willing to change to achieve this?
¥ What are you not willing to change?
¥ If you achieved it, what would be different?
¥ What would be the best thing that could happen?
¥ What would be the worst thing that could happen?
¥ If you failed to achieve it, what consequences would that bring?
¥ What has stopped you from achieving this before?
¥ What will not stop you from achieving this now?
An empowering mindset is about deciding what you value, and what the standard of excellence is at which you will operate. It’s about becoming uncompromising to your adherence to those principles in every facet of your life. It’s about setting the bar for yourself and others. It’s about being a Winner in your own game of life!
So for the rest of this week, I encourage you to adopt the mindset of an Olympic athlete and let’s see how close you get towards GOLD!Next week we'll look at Conscious Eating so stay tuned...
