5 Top Tips on Being Kind to Your Body

“Make your own recovery the first priority in your life.” ~ Robin Norwood

We all know that we have to care for our health and a positive mindset, how much you exercise, what you eat and how much water you drink all play important roles in your ability to maximise your wellbeing. But wait, there’s more…

Top 5 tips for being kind to your body are:
  1. To change your body, change your focus! Have you ever heard the saying “what you focus on is what you get”? The body you have right now is the body you believe you deserve and has taken years and years of dedication and mental focus. Instead of focusing on their goals, many women get overwhelmed by the negativity of focusing on what they want to escape. In the end, the negativity takes over, the journey seems too great and they give up, settling for a life of quiet desperation because they are too scared to change, to shake up the status quo. So start focusing on what you WANT!
  2. Adopt a mindset for extraordinary wellness - It doesn’t matter what you do in your one-on-one PT sessions, in fact it is often a waste of money, time and hard earned sweat if your mindset, self-talk and beliefs are sabotaging your physical efforts. An empowering mindset is about deciding what you value, and what the standard of excellence is at which you will operate. It’s about becoming uncompromising to your adherence to those principles in every facet of your life. It’s about setting the bar for yourself and others. It’s about being a Winner in your own game of life!
  3. Face your fears - Every time we put ‘avoiding fear’ ahead of our true desires, we’re preventing ourselves from truly appreciating and loving our lives and we fail to give ourselves the chance to live the life of our dreams! To say you will take that first step when you have more confidence, more time, more money, less responsibilities, more of this or less of that...is just your excuse…the truth is that most of the time we will find that “fear” is at the root of our paralysis. And you know what FEAR stands for? “False Evidence Appearing Real.” Whether you truly have something to fear or it is just false evidence appearing real, you need to walk through that fear.
  4. Know your goal - It’s always the goal, the irresistible and compelling outcome that drives the action and commitment! And that’s the secret. Create an irresistibly, compelling and pleasurable reason to change so that change becomes the ONLY vehicle to success! A motive that is so attractive you are unable to resist it. An attraction so strong you are forced to do or be something different, that once you experience the change you will be in a state of utter enjoyment! Create that irresistible, compelling & pleasurable motive for your body, right now.
  5. Take action, massive action, right now - Drink more water and choose food fit for a queen - food that is enjoyed slowly, real, fresh, whole, nutrient rich with high water content and usually low calorie. Just fill your grocery trolley primarily with foods that don’t have labels. You know, the ones that are real, whole, unprocessed and only 1 step removed from their original source (eg: the apple tree). And just start moving… whatever the outcomes - to lose weight, improve fitness, function or performance, to improve your body shape or self- image, to reduce pain or prevent further illness. Whatever it is, just remember there is no right way to train. It’s whatever works for you and your unique needs so just start moving - your body will love you for it, I promise!
And remember, your body deserves your unconditional, tireless commitment to excellence. You only get one shot at life, so make your life’s temple your absolute best!
